Reviews for Rey Ray's
Review highlights
Based on 276 reviewsRey Ray's is widely appreciated for its flavorful and fresh Mexican offerings, particularly its tacos, which often feature standout variations like pulled pork, shrimp, and fish options. Customers frequently praise the quality of homemade tortillas and consistently enjoyable taste experiences. The restaurant is noted for generous portion sizes, especially with side items like fries. Popular dishes such as the Queso Birria generate strong cravings, highlighting the brand’s ability to leave a lasting impression. However, patrons are advised to arrive early as the restaurant closes once items sell out, reflecting its high demand and limited availability. Some logistical notes include the cash-only policy and the lack of visible restroom facilities, which may impact convenience for some visitors.
Food was great. Had fish tacos, pulled pork tacos and small fries. A small is A LOT of fries. Didn't see bathroom facility anywhere but I also didn't ask. Cash only.
A year+ later after our 1st visit, we have never been less than totally pleased with every offering. Be forewarned, they sell out & close early. We have been disappointed. Today we were targetting the shrimp taco special. Fortuitously we went early bird & snagged 2 of the last 3 orders available. These were exceptional. We had already decided if the shrimp tacos were sold out we would settle () for the delicious fish tacos, a favourite. The chunky beet salad is a meal & very, very good. Sweetie & I previously shared, as a side with the fish tacos. Great (& I mean great) fries.
I get intense cravings for the Queso Birria. It's served very hot in temp so you can't just scarf it down which sucks (lol). Once I woke up in the dreary midwinter and found myself longing for Rey's before longing for summer itself. So it's pretty good!
Second time eating here. Never disappointed. Food is fresh. We had the deep fried fish taco and the healthy fish tacos. We both enjoyed the heathy taco better because it the flavours were dancing in your mouth. Suggestion if there for lunch on a Saturday arrive early, there are always many people and that is the best sign that you will eat well.
Loved this little place. I went with some friends and shared a bunch of the tacos. The pulled pork and "healthy fish" were fantastic with the fried fish being good but taking third place. Home made tortillas were delicious!! Guava and queso were good but nothing to write home about. Would definitely recommend it as a casual lunch spot!
It is absolutely worth our detour! Came here once 6 years ago and have craved it since! Today, I had to do a long drive, and this was 20 minutes out of the way, but it's completely worth it! The meat all has flavour it tastes authentic, and we are planning on driving back this summer just to make sure we get some tacos! Delicious and very impressed! Keep it up it's phenomenal! Best tacos to buy!
Always a awesome meal and service when we go Reys Reys. Love the people. Love the food and that they offer dining area outside under tree coverage for good shade. Only downside is now restrooms cause it is a chip truck. Will always support this diner when in area.
We stopped in for early dinner and heard some great reviews for this establishment. Friendly staff and great selection of Mexican style foods. We tried the fish tacos and quesadillas favourites. Made to order and everything is so fresh. Topping very fresh and everything is made in house. True value for what you pay which is better than fast food options. Can’t wait to visit and try the other taco options. Great seating outside and is cash only. Everything tasted amazing, great job everyone!
